I Wish: May Our Dreams Come True

I Wish was one of the most anticipated films released in 2011. Directed by Hirokazu Koreeda and starring Kirin Kiki and Joe Odagiri, this movie is a really promising work of one of the most talented Japanese filmmakers. This film tells a story of two brothers who live in different cities and dream of reuniting their family . It can be recommended for family view.

I first came across the information on the movie I Wish when I was collecting the materials for an essay paper to order at an essay writer service on Theory of Translation. It turned out that the original title of this film can be translated from Chinese as “miracle”.
However, Linda Hoaglund, as an experienced translator of Koreeda’s films, decided to place the main emphasis upon the act of wishing because, in her opinion, the word miracle is overloaded with the shades of religious meaning. Though the film contains a couple of miraculous moments, the author’s main focus is on the efforts the main characters make for reuniting their family .The filmmaker acknowledged the fact that working on this movie, he was thinking of his three-year-old daughter. I suppose that it was Koreeda’s fatherhood that made this film so touching. Initiating the audience into the inner world of the main characters, Koreeda appeals to the best feelings of his potential spectators. I must admit that this film impressed me greatly and I even rang up my brother after watching it.
